The Stanley Brothers - Rollin' On Rubber Wheels / How You've Tortured My Mind

(King 6005) Sep 1965

Rollin' On Rubber Wheels
How You've Tortured My Mind

Both sides of this 7" are taken from the Stanley's The Remarkable Stanley Brothers Play And Sing Bluegrass Songs For You LP, which had been released about ten months earlier, in Nov. 1964.

Carter's uptempo Rollin' On Rubber Wheels is one of them 'truck driver' type deals... presumably it didn't gain much traction at the time. How You've Tortured My Mind is co-credited to Peggy Stanley (Ralph's second wife) and Carter. It is probably the better side, featuring some neat harmonica by Earl Taylor. Both songs do however have an annoying snare drum in the background.

Both sides of the single can be found on The King Years, 1961-1965 4xCD box set.

PS: If anyone has better label images of either the white promo or blue stock copy of this 7", please get in touch via the Contact page - Thanks!
