This live album, along with Vol. 1, looks like it it was released shortly after the 1969 Japanese On Stage double LP. Eleven of the twelve cuts are duplicated with only one, Train 45, being the sole 'new' track.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the two Rebel releases came about as a result of the Stanley Brother Fan Club, which had a 'Tape' list, where recordings were circulated between members, but I've not been able to confirm this.

All of the recordings featured are audience made, so the quality is variable and below what you would expect of on a 'normal' live album. For hard-core Stanley Brother fans, however, both albums are still priceless, and they remained in print for several years.

More complete sets from some of the shows have subsequently resurfaced:- 14th May 1960 - Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Oh. on Live At Antioch College 1960[1]; 15th May 1960 - New River Ranch, Rising Sun, Md. is on Stanley Series, Vol. 1 No. 2 and 'Live At New River Ranch'; 8th Jul 1956 - Shipp's Park, Morrisville, Va. is on Stanley Series, Vol. 2 No. 3; 3rd Jun 1956 - Shenandoah Valley Bowl, Edingburg, Va. on Stanley Series Vol. 2 No. 1; and 7th Sep 1958 - New River Ranch, Rising Sun, Md. on Stanley Series Vol. 3 No. 4.

If anyone has more complete tapes of any of the other shows please get in touch!

The cover photo by Walt Saunders was taken at the American Legion Park, Culpepper, Va. 26th June 1966.[2]
