Please rate this album:

Celebrating Larry Sparks 50th anniversary as musician, this is a fine selection of songs, delivered with Larry's unique guitar and vocal style. I've not heard everything Larry's done, but I've got several of his albums & I haven't heard a bad one yet.

Stand out cuts include Bitterweeds, Journey To The Light and Saviour's Precious Blood. There's also guest spots with Alison Krauss and Judy Marshall, Bobby Osborne, Curley Seckler and Jesse McReynolds. Ralph sings tenor on Carter Stanley's Loving You Too Well, which features the following personnel:-

  • Larry Sparks: guitar, vocal
  • Ralph Stanley: tenor vocal
  • Jackie Kincaid: mandolin
  • Tyler Mullins: banjo
  • Larry D. Sparks: bass
  • Ron Stewart: fiddle

The only track that I find doesn't work too well is a version of In The Pines which is taken from a live 1995 Bill Monroe show at Bean Blossom with Larry doing guest vocal. On this some of the vocals/guitar are overdubbed.
