Please rate this album:

This is another terrible compilation from Starday, which has a misleading title, and includes only ten tracks including two which aren't even by The Stanley Brothers...

To make matters worse, Come All Ye Tenderhearted is a sub-standard recording, featuring a recitation by Carter.

The album was released as part of Starday's "Country Music Goes To Town" sales plan which took place between 1st Aug - 8th Oct 1966, where the label issued 16 new country releases, with dealers offered a 20% discount. The Stanley's album was included in 'phase two' of the scheme which was "backed with extensive merchandising and sales aids plus advertising program",[1] and which also included the release of the Stanley's Jacob's Vision LP.

Fortunately, all of the Stanley Brothers material on this album is also compiled on the excellent The Early Starday/King Years, 1958-1961 4xCD set.

Thanks to Gary Reid for the updated release date and 'Cashbook' information.

For a detailed breakdown and background to these sessions, check Gary B. Reid's The Music Of The Stanley Brothers book, pages 105-106, 108-111, 115-116 144, and 149-150.
