Please rate this album:

This bluegrass comedy trio is pretty funny in places... That is, if you like humour that isn't too PC or doesn't take itself too seriously...

Ralph is featured in a short 2:40 min. interview and he sings lead on Tim White's Gospel song March You Down Ole Sinner. Also featured is a hilarious spoof of The Ballad Of Jed Clampett with lyrics something along the lines of:-

"Come and listen to my story about a man named Ralph
Man a lot of money with his banjo and his mouth
And then one day after pickin' at his show
Up walked a Movie man and offered him some dough
Greenbacks that is... big money... Jaguars...[1]

Well the first thing you know ol' Ralph's a millionaire
Kin-folks said Ralph 'you got some change to spare?
Ralph knew the Opry was the place he ought to be
So he loaded up his bus and he drove to Tennessee
Nashville that is... Music Pools... football stars

And now it's time to say hello to the man of constant sorrow
He might be coming through your town to do a show tomorrow
You're all invited to buy a ticket and a new CD
Better bring some bucks, he won't work for chicken feed
Money in the bank... No bologna sandwiches
Security guards... Oh Brother...
Visit the website now you hear?"

The March You Down Ole Sinner track I guess would have been recorded c1998 as in the preceding interview Nathan is mentioned as being 5 years old. Personnnel on the song is listed as follows:

  • Ralph Stanley: vocal
  • Larry McPeak: bass, tenor vocal
  • Dave Vaught: guitar
  • Tim White: banjo, 5-string dobro
  • Kevin Jackson: fiddle
  • Adam Steffey: mandolin

[1] T. Bone Burnett:- "You know, we're gonna have a 75-year-old rock star. ... I've taken great pleasure in Ralph beginning to see some justice. I know he's enjoying it like crazy. He's driving around in his shades and black leather jacket in a new black Jaguar."
